#YogaEveryDamnDay – Day 4: Fitting Yoga In Your Day

First, some good news: No insomnia last night! WOOT!

Unlike the horror that was two nights ago, I slept soundly until 5:30 am. I didn’t mind the early rise because an hour later (more good news!), I was fully rested enough to get my cardio & weights in for the first time in over a week. It was a quick & dirty thirty, but that half hour was enough to get my blood pumping for the day.

Where does yoga fit into this? Since I was strapped for time this AM & I have an in-person hot yoga class scheduled after work (more on that tomorrow!). I decided to squeeze in an easy flow this afternoon before lunch. Below is my midday practice (sped up for convenience and because I learned how to use iMovie today specifically for this video), along with some tips on how to fit yoga into your busy day!

Now, on to today’s practice & tips:

The Instructor: Me!
The Practice: Freestyle flow (audio muted but accompanied by this playlist)

So, this is the first time I’ve ever (EVER!) recorded myself doing yoga. While editing, I had to stop in some places to revel, to cringe, to smile, to self-correct, to wonder why I recorded it in the first place. It was an experience to watch the playback and I’m grateful I allowed myself the grace to post it. Whew, growth! [exhales]

Back to why a midday practice is needed from time to time:

  • Your Morning was A LOT– Indulging in a midday practice is helpful when I’m coming down from a busy AM or a day that just didn’t start off on the right foot.
  • You Skipped Your Workout – When you need to move your body but don’t want to sweat too much, a midday yoga break is perfect.
  • That Dreaded 3pm Slump – Do you tend to want a nap or a snack (OR BOTH!) in the afternoon/ You are not alone! But I’ve found that even ten minutes on the mat perks me up and tampers my craving enough to see me through the end of the day.

That’s al for today but, whether it’s your first time here or you’ve been following this journey since Day 1, I’m thankful for your presence here. Now go do some yoga before quitting time!

See you on the mat tomorrow!
