#YogaEveryDamnDay – Day 34: My September Yoga Must-Haves

#YogaEveryDamnDay – Day 34: My September Yoga Must-Haves
Much like this stock photo, I may or may not
own a dozen yoga mats #dontjudgeme

I talked about all things September on Day 32 and I’m keeping that energy in this post. Here’s a few of my yoga-related faves this month:

  • What I’m Watching: Alo Moves
    • I was a big fan of Alo during the pandemic. I was struggling to maintain my sobriety and their free yoga workouts helped me to find peace and maintain. I saw recently that they have their own streaming platform (thank you, targeted Facebook ads!). For only $10 a month, I’m learning more about technique, which is one of my yoga goals. The on-demand classes have been a great compliment to my in-person studio classes.
  • What I’m Reading: Hell-Bent by Benjamin Lorr
    • Competitive yoga? Yeah, it’s a thing and writer Benjamin Lorr speaks about the phenomonon from experience. This retelling of Lorr’s two-year journey from being your typical NYC yogi to becoming a competitor in the National Yoga Asana Championship is a pageturner. Such an intriguing read – highly recommended!
  • What I’m Listening To: 30 For 30 – Bikram
    • Being a hot yoga devotee is a double-edged sword. While the practice makes me feel great, stories about the style’s notorious founder make me throw up in my mouth a little. Bikram Choudhury, the Indian-born founder of the Bikram Method, was responsible for bringing hot yoga to the States back in the 70s. However, his legacy is tainted by decades of abuse allegations – and this podcast discusses them in expansive detail.
  • What I’m Using: Within Yoga Blocks
    • I own more pairs of foam yoga blocks than I know what to do with. I think that a pair of them ended up in my husband’s garage for some mechanical purpose – and I didn’t even realize they were gone. Cork blocks, however, are an entirely different vibe. If you need an added support during your balancing and reclining poses, absolutely get these from Amazon. They have a little weight on them as well – perfect for lifting in backbends.

What are you watching/reading/listening to/using?
