#YogaEveryDamnDay – Day 8: Wellness Updates

Happy Monday, y’all! I have a couple of health & wellness announcements before we dive into today’s practice:

  • My dear college buddy Rachel Piper used her years of Pilates experience to create an awesome fitness collective called Size Diverse Pilates. She and her mentor are building a teacher training workshop, so I was humbled when she asked me to be a content creator for one of her workshops! Check out some of the outtake pics below and read all the behind-the-scenes details in the SDP newsletter!
  • Fun Fact: The second week of August annually is National Smile Week. This morning, I had the pleasure of interviewing Becky Hackett-Leas, the Oral Health Coordinator for Johnson County Public Health. Check out our chat about oral wellness on my library’s Facebook page.

Now, on to today’s practice:

The Instructor: Arianna Elizabeth of Bright + Salted Yoga
The Practice: Monday Morning Stretch (25 mins)

Time got away from me this morning (read: I overslept on purpose.) and I work late on Mondays, so I only had a half hour for the mat. This practice is beginner friendly, full of easy stretching for the hips and back, and a good way to start what’s sure to be a crazy busy workweek for me. So often, we as humans feel the need to rush into our Mondays. To-do lists are swirling in our heads before we’ve even gotten out of bed. I’ve had that experience and will probably have a Monday like that again – sooner than later in fact. Within the coming weeks, school starts for both my children and for me. My grad school practicum starts at 8am on the first day of school. While responsibility is inevitable, trying to fast-forward through your morning is optional. Let’s hope I remember that two Mondays from now!

See you on the mat tomorrow!
